A subject who pretended to be a traffic agent of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City (CDMX) was arrested this Monday after being discovered by real police officers while extorting motorists on the outskirts of the Coyoacán municipality.

The false officer, identified as Alexis Didier ‘N’, wore a uniform similar to that of authorized traffic agents and carried a fake firearm. According to information from journalist Carlos Jiménez, shared on the social network X (formerly Twitter), the individual was dedicated to issuing tickets and extorting drivers in the area.

When intercepted by real police officers, the subject tried to justify himself by claiming to be a traffic agent for road zone 4, but it was quickly discovered that he was lying. The officers proceeded to arrest him and sent him to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where his legal situation will be determined.

This case has generated concern among the inhabitants of Coyoacán, who have expressed their concern about the possible existence of more individuals who impersonate authorities to commit criminal acts. The authorities have reiterated the importance of verifying the identity of traffic agents and reporting any suspicious behavior.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security has assured that it will maintain operations to prevent this type of situation from happening again, guaranteeing the safety of motorists and the integrity of traffic work in the city.

For now, the fake police officer will face the legal consequences of his actions, while the authorities reinforce measures to prevent this type of crime in the capital of the country.
