A batch of 67 new public transport buses, currently in Manzanillo, will arrive in Puerto Vallarta in April, confirmed Jalisco Transportation Secretary Diego Monraz during his visit to the city on Friday, March 21, 2025.
These buses will reinforce the operation offered by UnibusPV, a company contracted by the Jalisco government to provide public service.
The announcement comes after weeks of waiting following the announcement made in January 2025, due to fiscal and credit complications that prevented their release by the Fotón bus manufacturer.
Monraz explained that, although the buses arrived at the port of Manzanillo three weeks ago, their transfer to Puerto Vallarta was delayed by these issues. However, he assured that the situation has been resolved and that the bus manufacturer will deliver the buses in the coming weeks.
Once in Puerto Vallarta, the units will undergo branding and equipment, and will then be integrated into the city’s public transportation system. The arrival of these vehicles aims to strengthen the frequency of existing routes and improve service quality.
Furthermore, the Secretary of Transportation announced that the arrival of these units will be only the beginning of a restructuring of the city’s transportation service, as this year also sees the arrival of articulated electric buses, which will place Puerto Vallarta at the forefront of urban mobility in the country.
During his visit, Monraz also discussed the progress of the Medina Ascencio electric mobility system and the reactivation of the interstate route project between Nayarit and Jalisco.
