The tourism policy in Acapulco, promoted by Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda, has borne fruit. This weekend saw significant tourist activity, not only in the so-called home of the sun, but also in various destinations throughout the state. Visitors enjoy the state’s nature, gastronomy, and culture through a variety of activities.
According to figures from the Ministry of Tourism, Guerrero has a hotel occupancy rate of 68.3 percent, driven by various events. Acapulco, on Saturday, surpassed 71.9 percent hotel occupancy, driven by sporting events such as the Women’s Pan American Softball Championship held at the Vicente Suárez Sports Complex.
In the Diamante area, occupancy was 61.2 percent, while in the Dorada area it was 80.5 percent, and in the Bahía Histórico area it was 65.2 percent. All of these locations offer various services and water sports. Likewise, nightlife continues to grow steadily.
But Acapulco isn’t the only tourist destination; the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo beach area continues to enjoy strong tourist activity. This Saturday, a general average hotel occupancy rate of 71.4 percent was reported; meanwhile, Taxco de Alarcón recorded an average hotel occupancy rate of 28.7 percent. Thus, the tourism strategies implemented by the local government continue to yield positive results.
