A large-scale search operation is underway to locate four fishermen who went missing after their boat, “Maní,” disappeared off the coast of Chicxulub Puerto, Yucatán, on Tuesday afternoon. The fishing vessel, registered as 31015679139, had been carrying Nazario “N,” 35; Francisco “N,” 45; and two unidentified young men when it failed to return to port as scheduled.
The disappearance was confirmed by the Harbor Master’s Office, which promptly coordinated with the Navy to launch a search operation. The effort includes the use of a Public Security Secretariat (SSP) helicopter and 13 community boats to expand the search radius by sea and air. Family members of the missing fishermen are reportedly accompanying authorities in the aerial search.
According to the SSP, search protocols were activated following information provided by families and local authorities. Specialized equipment and technology are being utilized to locate the vessel and its crew, as efforts continue into the afternoon.
