Ahead of the Easter holiday season, the state of Guerrero is experiencing a surge in tourist activity, thanks to Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda’s efforts to strengthen the state’s tourism agenda and promote destinations. This Sunday, the state’s hotel occupancy rate reached 73.6 percent.

A bulletin reported that the port of Acapulco recorded a hotel occupancy rate of 81 percent, driven by high-profile events.

In the Diamante area, a hotel occupancy rate of 64 percent was reported, while the Dorada area stands out with 94.9 percent occupancy, while the Bahía Histórica area reported an average occupancy rate of 67.8 percent.

It’s worth noting that this weekend the port was adorned with artistic, sporting, and cultural events, such as a concert by the musical group “Los Auténticos Decandentes,” in addition to the nearly 6,000 people who attended the Spartan Acapulco sporting event and the launch of the “Arenando” exhibition, featuring 14 internationally renowned sculptors.

The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo beach district also saw a great deal of activity this Sunday, reporting a general hotel occupancy of 68.3 percent, while Taxco de Alarcón had a general occupancy of 55.4 percent.

Through the state Sectur (Sector of Tourism), the Guerrero government continues to develop a varied tourism agenda, opening new restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues, and promoting anchor destinations to invite national and international visitors to enjoy their vacations at the Home of the Sun.
