The Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca Highway is closed this Sunday at kilometer 205+000, on the Huitzo-Oaxaca section, due to a landslide that completely covered the pavement, the National Highway Guard reported.
The incident occurred near the municipality of San Pablo Etla, where the total closure to traffic in both directions remains in place.
Authorities recommended following road signs to avoid accidents and delays.
As an emergency measure, an alternate route was opened via the Huajuapan de León-Oaxaca Highway, which includes the Nochixtlán-San Francisco and San Francisco Telixtlahuaca sections.
At this point, a dirt road was adapted to allow continued traffic.
National Guard personnel are providing support in the area and providing guidance to motorists traveling toward Oaxaca and Puebla, with the goal of minimizing the impact of the closure.
There is no information yet on how long this section will remain closed, so those traveling on this road are advised to stay informed through official channels.
