How did they strengthen security in Playa del Carmen?
This Sunday, Governor Mara Lezama led the delivery of 334 vehicles, including patrol cars, motorcycles, support units, specialized vehicles, and a tactical armored vehicle to the Municipal Citizen Security Secretariat.
Also noteworthy is a helicopter with registration XB-URZ, which, according to online records, is a Bell 407 aircraft with a range of 624 kilometers and speeds of up to 246 km/h, according to its manufacturer’s website.
Likewise, it has the capacity to transport up to seven people, is equipped with precision flight systems, and is focused on public safety and emergency response, among other things.
According to local media reports on social media, during the presentation, the pilot of the Playa del Carmen SSC (Secretary of State for Civil Protection) in charge of the aircraft noted that it can be used for search and rescue missions, firefighting, surveillance and security, as well as as an air ambulance, due to its versatility.
During Sunday’s presentation, Mara Lezama emphasized that 1.2 billion pesos were invested, as well as the acquisition of a tactical armored vehicle for security operations and equipment for its personnel.
At the same time, new initiatives were announced: in addition to ongoing training for the municipality’s security officers, the creation of 100 positions is planned for this semester, as well as the commissioning of four ambulances that will provide free service in the town.
