In the Nueva Tenochtitlán community, also known as Rizo de Oro, in the municipality of Cintalapa, authorities were notified a few days ago that they would be suspending the electricity supply to a community due to the “cuchilla” (a small mountain range) being located within their territory.
On April 6, residents of Nueva Tenochtitlán gathered to vote in favor of cutting off the electricity supply to the El Quebrachal neighborhood, in the municipality of San Miguel Chimalapa, in the state of Oaxaca.
Context
This problem arose from the line that divides the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca. The affected residents of Chiapas requested that the other residents of the neighboring state allow the passage of drinking water to Rizo de Oro. However, in response to this refusal, the community decided to retaliate by cutting off the electricity supply, since the lever that activates the power is located on the Cintalapa side.
In this regard, those affected are asking the competent authorities to complete the project that began six years ago under the then administration, but this initiative has not been finalized. This is why they are currently suffering from a lack of drinking water in the region, affecting crops and the nearly four thousand inhabitants.
