The Mexican state of Quintana Roo has rolled out a new digital initiative aimed at enhancing the tourist experience and reducing potential conflicts between visitors and local authorities. The Tourist Mobility Pass, launched by the State Government, is a cutting-edge tool that provides tourists with benefits such as complimentary tickets for minor infractions.
During the Easter holidays, Quintana Roo implemented this innovative pass to address concerns related to abuse, corruption, and misunderstandings involving tourists who rent cars during their stay. Over 80 formal car rental companies in the state already offer this option, allowing visitors to travel with greater peace of mind and legal support throughout the area.
The Tourist Mobility Pass includes a QR code linked directly to the Guest Assist app, which offers essential information such as emergency contacts, consular information, vehicle rental contract details, user identification, and other vital elements that guarantee a safer experience on the road. The process is simple and completely digital, requiring tourists to log in to the platform, fill out a form with their personal information, rented vehicle details, and the rental company providing it.
By utilizing the Tourist Mobility Pass, visitors can avoid the seizure of their driver’s license or any official document in case of minor infractions. However, there are exceptions to this benefit, including serious offenses such as parking in reserved spaces for people with disabilities, driving under the influence, or being involved in accidents causing damage to others or property.
This digital tool is a significant step forward in promoting tourism and enhancing the overall experience of visitors in Quintana Roo. By providing greater security, transparency, and convenience, the Tourist Mobility Pass sets a high standard for other tourist destinations to follow.
