From early morning, a layer of smoke could be seen covering the state capital due to the forest fires that have broken out in the Sierra region in recent days, in addition to other factors such as pollution from brickyards, industry, and motor vehicles.
However, at 2:00 p.m., according to Google Maps, Durango was the only place in the country where this color could be seen, affecting nearby municipalities such as Guadalupe Victoria, Pueblo Nuevo, and Nombre de Dios.
Some large cities such as Monterrey, Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monclova maintain the orange flag, indicating poor air quality, but not reaching the levels reported by the capital city.
