During the Easter holiday period, from April 11 to 20, 2025, the Nayarit State Attorney General’s Office recorded 98 victims of incidents, including 17 deaths.
The state authority reported that 64 investigations related to traffic incidents were initiated in different municipalities across the state.
In a statement issued this Monday, the Attorney General’s Office noted that Tepic, “the state capital, was the municipality with the highest number of incidents, followed by Bahía de Banderas and Compostela, municipalities with high tourist influx.”
Thursday, April 17, was identified as the day with the most reports, according to the local Attorney General’s Office.

Of the 98 victims, 81 people were injured. Some of these injuries, the agency indicated, were related to “involuntary manslaughter caused by drivers who were allegedly driving while intoxicated or under the influence of toxic substances, a situation that continues to be one of the main causes of road accidents during the holiday season.”
Two drowning deaths were also reported; the first occurred on April 13 in Playa Platanitos, Compostela municipality, and the second on April 19 in the El Mamey beach resort, in the town of Mecatán, San Blas municipality.
The Prosecutor’s Office assured that it will follow up on the investigations initiated during the holiday season and urged the public to “maintain appropriate preventive measures to avoid the occurrence of regrettable events.”
