This Tuesday, it was announced that Ovidio Guzmán “El Ramón,” son of Jacobin Guzmán Loera, also known as “El Chapo,” pleaded guilty in the United States after reaching a plea agreement.
Ovidio Guzmán, known as the leader of “Los Chapitos,” one of the Sinaloa Cartel factions, agreed to provide information to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Prosecutors from the Department of Justice informed Judge Sharon Johnson that, due to the agreement reached with Guzmán López, the procedural hearing scheduled for May 12 is suspended, and the in-person hearing for the plea is scheduled for July 9.
“The government (Department of Justice) must provide the court with a complimentary copy of the plea agreement at least three days before the plea,” the court document states.
