The 226-kilometer Mexico City-Querétaro Train, whose construction has already begun, will connect with transportation systems in Mexico City, Hidalgo, Querétaro, and the State of Mexico. The journey will take two hours and will benefit an estimated six million users.

The project was launched by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, with the presence of the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT), Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, and the Head of the Railway Transportation Regulatory Agency (ARTF), Andrés Lajous Loaeza.

The new route will pass through the municipalities of Huehuetoca, State of Mexico; Tula, Hidalgo; San Juan del Río, and Querétaro.

Leaving Mexico City, the first station is Huehuetoca, in the State of Mexico, an industrial area with population growth. a bus stop (where occasional stops will be made), then Praderas del Potrero, as well as the Tula, San Juan del Río, Los Héroes/Airport stations (yet to be determined), and Querétaro.

In Mexico City, it will connect from the Buenavista Terminal to the Buenavista-Cuautitlán Suburban Train. Users will be able to continue their journeys on Metro Line B, as well as Metrobús and Ecobici lines 1, 3, and 4; and in Querétaro, with the QroBus and local transportation.

According to the architectural design of the Mexico City-Querétaro Train, the “La Corregidora” terminal station in Querétaro will have a ticket office, a lobby (waiting room), and entrance and exit turnstiles.

It also includes public services such as public restrooms, a loading and unloading bay, federal services and lockers, as well as parking for approximately 100 users.

Meanwhile, public transportation will have simultaneous capacity for at least 12 buses, each 12 meters long.

With these types of actions, the Rail Transport Regulatory Agency is working to increase travel capacity through various alternatives and improved connectivity.
