A businessman kidnapped in Michoacán is rescued from a ranch in Jalisco; five people are in custody.

A man who was deprived of his liberty in Michoacán and whose whereabouts had been unknown since April 12 was found alive in a building in Jalisco. Five people have also been detained who may be linked to the actions against the businessman.

The businessman’s rescue was confirmed by the Michoacán Attorney General’s Office on May 6, more than 20 days after the actions against him. The arrest was the result of an operation involving various security personnel.

Authorities in Michoacán did not release the name of the victim, however, they did highlight that the deprivation of liberty was recorded in the municipality of Marcos Castellanos (in the northwest of the state).

He was at a ranch in Las Aguilillas, Jalisco.

On the morning of Tuesday, May 6, the businessman was released as a result of a search carried out at a ranch located in Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos, a municipality in central Jalisco.

It was at this ranch that security agents arrested four people, who may be linked to the actions against the businessman. In addition to the four individuals, firearms were found, but the Michoacán Prosecutor’s Office did not specify the quantity or type.

The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office reported that the four detained at the Las Aguilillas ranch Aguilillas are: Javier “N,” 40; Jonathan Ramsés “N,” 19; Adaina Magdalena “N,” 38; and Marcos Edgardo “N,” 24.

Meanwhile, a fifth person was also arrested in Morelia, and according to authorities’ investigations, the latter also allegedly participated in the kidnapping of the businessman. For now, the investigation continues.

Members of the Army, the National Guard, the Michoacán Security Secretariat, and prosecutors’ offices from both states participated in the operations at the ranch.

Businessman kidnapped in Michoacán was held for three days
It is worth remembering that in November 2024, Valdemar Tariácuri Hernández was kidnapped, a man who was deprived of his liberty for three days. This man is the owner of the restaurant known as Gran Tariácuri.

He was kidnapped on November 18th from a restaurant he owned, and his discovery was confirmed by Michoacán authorities on the 21st of the same month. The businessman was located in Erongarícuaro following an operation involving various security agencies.
