Efforts are continuing to ensure the National Guard can carry out its work without affecting commercial traffic across this border.

This was stated by Carl Bres Carranza, local president of the Confederation of Employers of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX), noting that transporters, customs agents, and government officials have collectively requested on several occasions that the National Guard’s inspections at the Piedras Negras customs office be expedited.

A few weeks ago, a meeting was held with General Ibarra and this point was discussed. He said he would speak with the National Guard personnel to ensure sound judgment and faster inspections, he explained.

The business leader said this has borne fruit, as the crossing of goods was recently expedited.

He even revealed that a company from San Luis Potosí that crossed through Nuevo Laredo is now conducting tests at the local customs office.

We hope they like the crossing and pass all their production through here, Bres Carranza emphasized
