Mexico once again asserted its authority and reaffirmed its position as one of the major powers in international archery after winning gold and silver medals this Friday at the 2025 World Cup in Shanghai, China.
The gold medal went to the women’s compound archery team, comprised of Maya Becerra, Mariana Bernal, and Adriana Castillo, who soundly defeated India 234-222 in the grand final.
Thanks to this superlative performance, the Mexican archers retained their title won in the first round, held in Florida, United States, although on that occasion, Coahuilense Dafne Quintero replaced Castillo.
Then it was the turn of Sebastián García, Luis Lezama, and Rodrigo González, who sought to emulate the achievements of their compatriots. In a very close duel until the final stretch, the Mexicans ultimately fell 228-232, also against the Indian team.
The tricolor team will have the opportunity to win another medal this Sunday, when Olympian Matías Grande Kalionchiz competes in the men’s individual recurve semifinals.
