From Chiapas, we’re told that, in true El Chapo Guzmán fashion, the mayor of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Fabiola Ricci Diestel (Morena), ordered the construction of a hidden passageway in her city hall office, leading to the basement. They explain that this “emergency exit” is intended for high-risk situations, although in the halls of the mayor’s office, several people question why it required breaking a slab that could cause structural damage, as there was no review by Civil Protection authorities. She also boasts that she’s a council member close to the people and that one of her goals is to escape any protests that may reach her office. What a mess!
“A pitcher is breaking”; Spokesperson Resigns
We’re told that the “chronicle of a foretold departure” was applied in the Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson’s Office, as its head, Jorge Cuéllar Montoya, resigned due to the multiple failures and complaints about his performance. We’re told that Mr. Jorge had the responsibility to report on (in)security issues, but when a significant incident occurred, instead of avoiding speculation, he would let hours go by in silence and respond with terse statements that left more questions than answers. Although Mr. Jorge stated that he was leaving “with a clear conscience, a duty fulfilled, and invaluable lessons learned from public service,” many were relieved. Boom!
Teachers’ celebration spirals out of control
We’re told that “no one knows and no one knew” how it happened that a stripper show was presented last weekend at a SNTE celebration in Hidalgo, at a school in Huejutla, which generated a wave of criticism. We’re told that the Secretary of Public Education, Natividad Castrejón Valdez (Morena), stated that these types of shows “are not innocent mistakes or unintentional jokes, but rather expressions of symbolic violence with sexist overtones, and which will be investigated.” While teacher union leader Said Vargas Sáenz asserted that they were “fooled,” as they hired the musical group Los Ángeles de Charly without knowing it would include such a show. Will there be a hidden agenda?
