Seven dead, including five children, in explosion in Saltillo, Coahuila

A tragic explosion followed by a fire at a residence in the Nueva Tlaxcala neighborhood of Saltillo, Coahuila, claimed the lives of seven people this Saturday.

Among the fatalities are five minors and two adults, according to initial reports.

The people who lost their lives in this unfortunate event were identified as María de Jesús Picazo Alvarado, 64; Karely Guadalupe Tovar Durón, 15; Lorena González Valencia, 28; Edwin Orlando Compeán Tovar, 10; Regina González Valencia, 8; Dayana Aylin Tovar González, 5; and Mia Joselin Guerrero Picazo, 6.

In addition to the fatalities, one person survived the blaze and is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital. However, no detailed information has been provided yet.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed, it is suspected that the explosion and subsequent fire were caused by a lit candle.
