In the framework of World Recycling Day, proclaimed by UNESCO since 2005, the mayor, Fabiola Ricci Diestel, led the inauguration of Recicla Fest 2025, an event aimed at promoting a recycling culture and environmental awareness in the municipality. During her speech, the mayor recognized the work of the groups and organizations actively involved in recycling, highlighting their commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable San Cristóbal.
“We are building a new history for San Cristóbal. If we can raise awareness about the importance of recycling, we can transform our municipality. I am deeply grateful to everyone who makes this festival possible, especially the general director, Fabián Natareth Villatoro, and the companies that are joining this project,” she stated.
Recicla Fest 2025 offered various activities to promote environmental education, including live music, workshops, photography exhibitions, and an art contest using recycled materials, which included the participation of city schools. The collected materials will be used to grow more than 2,500 saplings, which will be planted in different areas of the city, contributing to improving air quality and promoting biodiversity.
Fabián Natareth Villatoro, the event’s general director, emphasized that the Recicla Fest seeks to inspire citizens to adopt sustainable practices. He also highlighted that the funds raised will be donated to Tu Bosque A.C., a local organization dedicated to reforestation. “Recycling is more than just separating waste; it’s a way to protect our environment and build a better future for all.”
