The Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that it arrested four men who were allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct, separately, on the capital’s Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro.

The agency stated that the arrests were made at stations on Metro Line 7 as part of a strategy to strengthen passenger safety on the trains.

How the offenders were arrested

First case

Officers from the SSC Auxiliary Police caught two men engaging in sexual misconduct in the last car of the train at Tacuba Station, located in the Miguel Hidalgo borough.

As a result, the officers from the capital asked the offenders to leave the car. The men, aged 38 and 24, respectively, were subsequently arrested and brought before a civil judge.

Second Case

The second incident occurred at the Refinería station, located in the Ángel Zimbrón neighborhood of the Azcapotzalco borough, where STC Metro riders requested police assistance to report that a pair of men were sexually touching each other in the last seats of the train.

“The police arrested two men, ages 30 and 33, and they were also brought before a civic judge, who will determine the appropriate sanction.”

“Their main function is to maintain order and social harmony, resolving conflicts, reconciling the parties, and applying sanctions.”
