First, the typical afternoon formation of a trough over the country’s Altiplano will cause thunderstorms in the north, northeast, east, center, and west of Mexico.

Similarly, the establishment of another trough over southeastern Mexico, combined with the entry of humid air from the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and Pacific Ocean, will also favor rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the aforementioned region, the south of the country, and the Yucatán Peninsula.

In this regard, heavy rains (75 to 100 mm) are forecast in Oaxaca and Chiapas, very heavy rains (50 to 75 mm) in Guerrero, heavy rains (25 to 50 mm) in Coahuila, Jalisco, Michoacán, the State of Mexico, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Veracruz, moderate rains (5 to 25 mm) in Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Durango, Aguascalientes, Colima, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Mexico City, and Tabasco, and light rains (less than 5 mm) in Chihuahua, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.

Marked pressure differences and significant temperature variations will cause gusts of 50 to 70 km/h (31 to 43 mph), with possible whirlwinds and dust devils, in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas; 40 to 60 km/h (25 to 37 mph) in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, and Puebla; and 30 to 50 km/h (18 to 31 mph) in Veracruz.

This Saturday afternoon, high temperatures of 40 to 45°C are expected in Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Sinaloa, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Campeche, and Yucatán; 35 to 40°C in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Querétaro, Hidalgo, the State of Mexico, Morelos, Puebla, Veracruz, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo; and 30 to 35°C in Guanajuato and Aguascalientes.

Then, towards early Sunday morning, low temperatures of 0 to 5°C are expected in localities located in the mountains of Durango and Chihuahua.

The storms threaten to continue for the rest of the month. Additionally, we must remain vigilant for the development of a tropical disturbance over the eastern Pacific Ocean, although for now it is expected to pass parallel to the Mexican coast.
