Sweltering Heat Forces Class Suspensions in Campeche

Intense heat has gripped San Francisco de Campeche, forcing authorities to suspend classes at all educational institutions in the city due to the risk of heat stroke for children.

Temperatures have soared to as high as 42 and 45 degrees Celsius, prompting education officials to take drastic measures. Preschools, elementary schools, higher education institutions, and telesecondary schools are among those affected by the suspension of classes.

The decision to suspend classes was made in response to the extreme heat, which is expected to persist for several days. Forecasts indicate that high temperatures will continue to plague both Campeche and neighboring Yucatán, leading to class suspensions and schedule changes throughout the region.

Initially, the measure applied only to preschools and elementary schools, but it was later expanded to include higher education and telesecondary institutions as well. The suspension of classes is expected to remain in place until weather conditions improve.

The heat wave has brought a significant disruption to educational activities, forcing parents and students to adapt to the changing circumstances. As the region continues to experience sweltering temperatures, authorities are working closely with schools to ensure that children’s safety remains the top priority.
