A dramatic rescue operation was carried out yesterday off the coast of Calkini, Campeche, as members of the Mexican Navy came to the aid of eight fishermen whose boat had broken down. The incident occurred near Isla Arena, a remote area where the men were engaged in fishing activities.

According to eyewitnesses, the fishermen’s engine failed, leaving them stranded and adrift in open waters. In a distress call for help, they managed to send out a signal that was quickly picked up by authorities.

A Defender-class vessel from the Navy sprang into action, sailing towards the location of the stricken boat. Once on the scene, the sailors expertly rescued the eight fishermen and transported them safely to a nearby harbor.

Once on land, Naval Health personnel provided medical attention to the relieved men, who were found to be in good condition despite their ordeal. The Navy also rendered assistance by towing the smaller vessel until it reached the safety of the port.

Thanks to the swift response from the Mexican Navy, the lives of these fishermen were saved, and they can now return home to their loved ones unharmed.
