The Mazatlán City Council, headed by Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez, is now prepared for the first rains of the season.

Through the Public Services Department, headed by Karla Camacho Guzmán, immediate response crews were activated to address critical areas and prevent flooding caused by blocked stormwater systems.

The official said these brigades are primarily made up of Urban Sanitation personnel, whose task is to remove trash, branches, and leaves that accumulate in sewer grates.

In the Historic Center, nine workers are covering the busiest areas, while other teams are deployed on avenues such as Cruz Lizárraga, Insurgentes, Gabriel Leyva, and Pino Suárez.

The strategy is complemented by personnel from the Parks and Gardens department, with 40 workers distributed across the three sectors of the port. They are responsible for removing fallen trees, branches, and palm trees with the help of tools such as chainsaws, pickup trucks, dump trucks, and backhoes.

In addition, the Public Lighting Department provides five workers and a crane to remove poles and light fixtures that could collapse due to weather conditions. If the situation warrants it, heavy machinery such as skid steer loaders or tractors is also used.

Trash and debris removed from Playa Norte in Mazatlán
Meanwhile, personnel from the Beach Operator and the Aquatic Rescue Squad carried out a cleanup effort at Playa Norte, especially in the boat landing area, where they removed debris such as plastics, mattresses, coolers, metals, and boat fragments.

The waste was collected and transported by Public Works trucks to the final disposal site. Authorities urged citizens not to leave trash on the beach and to take care of the environment.
