The Mexico City Secretariat of Welfare and Social Equality (Sebien-CDMX) launched the Men’s Welfare Pension program in 2025. This program aims to contribute to the income of the senior citizen population in the country’s capital through the gradual distribution of financial support of up to 18,000 pesos.

In this way, Sebien-CDMX seeks to contribute to the progressive fulfillment of the right to a minimum living wage to ensure a dignified life, as well as to reduce the risks associated with age and the transition phase that comes with leaving the economically active population.

The total annual amount per beneficiary for 2025 will be up to 18,000 pesos. “Once the registration form is validated, the financial support will be delivered through the corresponding payment instrument, with no retroactive effects,” reported Sebien-CDMX to the Official Gazette of Mexico City.

What ages does the Men’s Welfare Pension program cover?
In the first year of operation, corresponding to fiscal year 2025, the social program will cover only the 63- to 64-year-old population, aiming to achieve coverage above 90%.

However, in subsequent fiscal years, the program will be progressively expanded until the entire 60- to 64-year-old segment is covered, Sebien-CDMX explained.

When will the payments be made and how much will they be?

The funds will be distributed in six bimonthly installments of 3,000 pesos, until the total amount of 18,000 pesos is reached, according to the Mexico City Secretariat of Welfare and Social Equality.

To remain a beneficiary of the program, permanent residence in the country’s capital must be proven in a timely manner and meet the established requirements.

When will registration for the Men’s Welfare Pension open?
In a notice published in May, Sebien-CDMX informed the general public that it is not currently in the process of registering for the Pensión Hombres Bienestar program, and therefore registration will not open in June 2025.

This is because registration for the 2025 fiscal year closed at the end of the third quarter of the year. Therefore, the Mexico City Secretariat of Welfare and Social Equality asked the interested public to monitor the institutional channels of the Mexico City government for future updates.
