The rain that fell across much of the metropolitan area on the morning of Saturday, May 31, has caused some main streets and avenues in Veracruz to be flooded or puddled.
Users on social media have posted photos and videos showing cars stranded on some streets in the La Pochota and Los Volcanes neighborhoods, and on JB Lobos Avenue.
Other areas experiencing flooding include the streets surrounding the Nuevo Veracruz neighborhood, as well as in El Vergel and part of El Floresta, where residents have begun sweeping up trash to prevent further waterlogging.
Some motorists, upon seeing the stranded vehicles, have opted to take alternate routes to avoid being caught in the water and damaging their vehicles.
Rain is expected to continue throughout the rest of the day in parts of Veracruz and Boca del Río, due to a low water level that entered the Gulf of Mexico, which will bring rain to the metropolitan area on Saturday, May 31.
