Tamaulipas has been included in the National Highway Infrastructure Plan 2025-2030, through strategic projects that will strengthen regional connectivity, economic development, and interstate mobility. Among the most notable projects is the Gulf North Corridor, with an estimated combined investment of 40 billion pesos.

This corridor encompasses a stretch of approximately 503 kilometers, connecting the municipalities of Nuevo Laredo, Ciudad Victoria, and Tampico, with the goal of optimizing freight transportation, reducing travel times, and consolidating the region’s logistics infrastructure.

Key projects for southern Tamaulipas

The Mexican government also announced two key projects for southern Tamaulipas:

Modernization of 67 kilometers of the Ciudad Valles-Tampico highway, which will go from two to four lanes.
Start of the Pachuca-Tampico connection, as part of the Pachuca-Huejutla axis, whose construction will begin this year.
Both projects will strengthen the integration of the Huasteca region with the Gulf of Mexico coast, directly benefiting Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí.

Laredo Bridge 4/5: New Trade Gateway

At the recent People’s Morning Conference led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, also confirmed the construction of the new Laredo Bridge 4/5. This project aims to strengthen trade between Mexico and the United States and consolidate Tamaulipas as a strategic point in the national border infrastructure.

Federal and State Coordination

The Secretary of Public Works of Tamaulipas, Pedro Cepeda Anaya, emphasized that these actions are the result of coordination between the state government headed by Américo Villarreal Anaya and the federal government, which has allowed high-impact projects to become part of the national agenda.

“Infrastructure is a driver of growth, and this plan is a clear demonstration of the Mexican government’s commitment to the transformation of our state,” Cepeda said.

With these projects, Tamaulipas is positioning itself as a key entity for the country’s development, driving improvements in mobility, economic competitiveness, and quality of life for its residents.
