The state Tourism Secretariat presented this Tuesday the 2025 edition of the 48 Hours of Uninterrupted Huapango Dancing Festival, an event that will feature more than 20 couples, accompanied by dozens of trios that will fill the main square of the municipality of Xilitla.
The event takes place from June 20 to 22, as part of the seventeenth anniversary of the Sundays of Huapangos, where each week, dozens of couples gather to dance to the rhythm of the jarana, the violin, and the quinta guitar.
Local and regional trios will participate in this edition, as well as musicians and dancers from other states such as Hidalgo, Puebla, and Querétaro.
The mayor of Xilitla, Óscar Humberto Márquez, emphasized that this weekend is expected to generate an economic impact of over 8 million pesos, with hotel occupancy estimated at 95 percent.
“It’s not so much a competition, it’s a family and social gathering that’s growing all the time; it’s a unique event among the neighboring states of Queretaro, Hidalgo, and Veracruz,” the mayor explained.
