Buying a new car in Mexico isn’t easy with sky-high prices. If you were afraid of buying a used car, then you should know that at least in Mexico City, there’s a new opportunity to say goodbye to scams. This way, you can buy and sell a car safely.
How to buy and sell cars safely in Mexico City?
Well, as we said, Mexico City is taking a step forward in this regard, as Mayor Clara Brugada reopened the “Safe Car Buying” module.
This module is located in the Chinampac de Juárez neighborhood, in the Iztapalapa borough, and its objective is to combat vehicle theft, scams, and other car-buying crimes.
For example, Brugada explained that one form of crime works like this: very cheap vehicles are advertised on platforms like Facebook; the buyer makes an appointment to see the car, arrives with the money, and immediately everything is stolen.
“What will they do?” you’re probably wondering. Well, at this site, specialized appraisers will inspect the car you want to buy or sell for free.
The specialists will handle technical mechanical matters, as well as paperwork.
In this sense, you can register used vehicles with license plates from another entity, deregister vehicles, legalize motorcycles, including electric and hybrid ones, and obtain your driver’s license.
“Today, the daily average of vehicle theft is the lowest since 2018, with a 58% reduction. In 2018, the daily average of vehicle theft was 39.7%, and today, in May, the daily average is 16.5%,” clarified the mayor of Mexico City.
So now you know how you can make things easier when buying and selling cars in Mexico City so you don’t get caught with a joke because you won’t pay 15 pesos.
