An armed confrontation in Chiapas was reported in the Las Palmas area, in the municipality of Cintalapa, hours before the visit of President Claudia Sheinbaum to the state.

The events occurred before the arrival of the president, who this Friday, September 11, has scheduled activities in Tuxtla Gutiérrez and Cintalapa as part of her tour related to her second government report.

According to the available reports, the incident allegedly involved groups linked to the Sinaloa Cartel and the so-called Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel.

Among the names associated with the operations of the Sinaloa group in Chiapas is Jesús Esteban “El Güero Pulseras.”

In November 2024, President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that federal authorities had detained “El Güero Pulseras,” who was identified at the time as a priority target and leader of a criminal cell in the state.

During that operation, authorities seized firearms, magazines, ammunition, marijuana, and vehicles with both homemade and factory-installed armor.

Cintalapa is one of the municipalities where security forces have carried out operations against criminal groups.

In October 2025, the Security Cabinet reported coordinated actions in Cintalapa, Jiquipilas, and Arriaga following violent incidents on highways in Chiapas. On that occasion, three people were arrested and weapons, vehicles, tire-puncturing devices, and narcotics were seized.

What activities will Sheinbaum have in Chiapas?

President Claudia Sheinbaum is scheduled to visit Chiapas this Friday.

Her agenda includes a conference at the VII Military Region in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, followed by an event at the Víctor Manuel Reyna Stadium.

Later, the president will travel to Cintalapa.
