More than 3,000 producers in the state have benefited during 2025 from the construction and rehabilitation of dams designed to capture and store water, reported the Secretariat of Rural and Agribusiness Development (Sedrae).

Currently, there are approximately 6,000 dams distributed throughout the state, which play a key role in water collection, particularly during the dry season.

The head of Sedrae, Isidoro Armendáriz, noted that this type of infrastructure allows for the recovery of up to 50 percent of the state’s water storage capacity, which directly impacts agricultural and livestock activities.

He also highlighted that nearly 4 million pesos have been invested in the construction and rehabilitation of dams by the State Government and the producers themselves during the first five months of the year.

In addition, the organic matter extracted from the dams is reused as natural fertilizer and for leveling plots and roads, providing additional benefits for soil management.

Armendáriz added that Sedrae provides specialized machinery to carry out these tasks, in collaboration with rural producers from different regions of the state.
