Closure of premises affects the traditional Calvario neighborhood

Through the Civil Association’s social media channels, photographs of businesses were published, some of which had been operating for a short time and others that were older.

Not all of them closed permanently. In some cases, the decision was made to change location or sales methods.

But others did have to close. This is the case of a restaurant serving typical Puebla food on Independencia Street. The owners told El Siglo de Durango that the closure occurred after three years of operation, the last of which was practically without profit and barely making ends meet, so it was no longer possible to continue.

And this isn’t the only commercial area facing difficulties. Recently, Eduardo Bernal, a business leader in the Downtown Zone, commented that 20 de Noviembre Avenue is “desolate” and with almost no sales, and that rents are very high, forcing businesses to close, leaving their premises empty, reflecting the city’s low economic turnover.
