The construction of a new boardwalk in San Carlos and the rehabilitation of the existing boardwalk in Guaymas will significantly boost tourism in that town by creating a new attraction for visitors.
In an interview, Mayor Karla Córdova González mentioned that, following the announcement made by Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño, outstanding expectations have been generated for such a large project, just as was the case in Huatabampito, where, according to service providers, the number of vacationers has tripled.
The new infrastructure will be 2.5 kilometers long and will cover a large part of San Francisco Beach from Bahía Delfín, she commented, whose project is being led by the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Urban Development (Sidur).

“We are going to have a new boardwalk in San Carlos. Sidur has made a lot of progress on the project. As you know, the hardest part is having a project when you’re going to do something, so they are working on that,” she stated.
In parallel with this intervention, they will proceed with the rehabilitation of the old boardwalk, using funds allocated by the Federal Maritime Land Zone (Zofemat), which will increase the number of tourist attractions.
“We are going to close with a flourish with the boardwalk that will be in San Carlos and with the completion of the old boardwalk. We are going to use the Zofemat funds to also beautify the old boardwalk,” he stated.
Although no date has been set for the start of the work, nor for when it might be completed, he said it is encouraging to know that the state leader’s commitment is that, at the end of his term, no project will be left unfinished, so that before the end of 2027 it will be a reality.
“We are very happy with this aid, and the truth is, it has been a total support for me, both during the first administration and this second. And I am very, very, very grateful, because together, the three levels of government are going to leave Guaymas completely different,” she concluded.
