A large hydrocarbon spill in pipelines that pass very close to the Lázaro Cárdenas auxiliary junction in Venustiano Carranza caused the complete closure of the old Mexico-Tuxpan federal highway near the El Huasteco neighborhood this Saturday afternoon.
Vehicle traffic on the highway will be fully reopened until Pemex specialists are completing the maneuvers to control the hydrocarbon leak.
According to official data, Civil Protection personnel and Municipal Police officers are assisting in directing vehicle traffic onto the Mexico-Tuxpan highway, heading toward the municipal seat of Venustiano Carranza. This is due to the fact that the only access available, in the Los Manguitos neighborhood, is very narrow, causing a bottleneck.
Large vehicles traveling toward Poza Rica will be diverted on the route to the community of San Diego.
It should be noted that as a safety measure, Civil Protection personnel evacuated several families from their homes, located very close to the fire scene. Some left their homes due to the strong smell of fuel.
This Saturday afternoon, Pemex personnel were carrying out product recovery and cleanup work.
