A man was wounded by a stray bullet while near a pursuit area between State Guard members and suspected criminals in Reynosa.

The incident occurred this Sunday, June 22, in the Unidad Obrera neighborhood in the northern border municipality of Tamaulipas.

The State Guard was conducting a patrol.

According to preliminary reports, a group of armed individuals apparently attacked State Guard officers while they were conducting a patrol in the Loma Blanca neighborhood.

The officers repelled the attack, pursuing their attackers along Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, alarming dozens of motorists passing by.

In the midst of an exchange of gunfire between suspected criminals and law enforcement officers, a man was wounded by a stray bullet. He was traveling with his family in a van.

This incident occurred in the Unidad Obrera neighborhood, in front of a pharmacy. Reynosa Civil Protection paramedics arrived at the scene to assist the injured man.

Emergency medical technicians assessed the injured man, confirming that he had been shot in one of his legs.

They quickly treated him and then loaded him into an ambulance to be taken to a hospital for specialist evaluation.

No arrests so far.

This time, the Tamaulipas Public Security Spokesperson’s Office did not issue any alerts regarding the confrontation between armed individuals and state security forces in the city, although citizens began circulating alerts to their families.

According to witnesses, the operation extended to the areas surrounding Unidad Obrera to try to determine the whereabouts and identity of the attackers. So far, no arrests have been reported in Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
