President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena, led the distribution of cards for the federal program “La Escuela es Nuestra” (School is Ours) this Saturday.
The event took place in the municipality of Izamal. The activity seeks to strengthen the state’s education system through direct funding for school communities.
The head of the Ministry of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, accompanied the authorities. During his speech, he highlighted the system of direct operation with community participation.

The program transfers resources without intermediaries. Schools choose priorities and execute the necessary works with internal supervision.
Díaz Mena affirmed that this model allows for reducing gaps. He also emphasized that decisions rest with those who know the needs of each school.
“People take control of their school community. That is the basis of the new model we are promoting,” he said.
From Izamal, the Governor mentioned that the goal is to guarantee infrastructure at all educational levels in the state. He included districts with a backlog of resources.
Sheinbaum Pardo acknowledged the coordination with the state government. She noted that the Maya Train will reach Progreso and will strengthen development in the region.
She emphasized that the state project, called “Education Renaissance,” is moving forward with support from the Government of Mexico.
The “School is Ours” program is consolidating as a tool to improve school conditions. It also promotes transparency and direct participation in the use of public spending.
