ASUS has unveiled its new Chromebook models that take better advantage of Google’s artificial intelligence capabilities, Gemini. These are the new ASUS Chromebook and Chromebook Plus (CX14 and CX34), which feature multiple tools and integrations to facilitate workflows while also enhancing their capabilities with Google AI.

The Chromebook CX14 is the base model, designed primarily for users looking for a laptop for study, entertainment, or just everyday use. The Chromebook Plus (CX34) is primarily focused on offering improved performance, productivity, and reliability.

In addition, Google says, these devices take “the simplicity and security” of ChromeOS to the next level, integrating higher-performance hardware, faster processors, twice the memory and storage, along with Google AI and improved apps like Google Photos and Adobe Photoshop on the web.

AI Built Into All Chromebooks

According to Google, all Chromebooks will feature updates to enhance AI capabilities and workflow efficiency, such as the Quick Insert tool, which allows you to add content without interrupting your current task.

This option makes it possible to add links, GIFs, emojis, images, or recent files while composing emails or documents, without switching tabs or windows.

You can also select content to search for it with Lens, allowing you to identify photos or videos and retrieve information without leaving the app, simply by long-pressing the Selector menu or using the screenshot/quick settings key.

Additionally, Chromebooks will come with NotebookLM pre-installed, which allows you to upload PDFs, websites, YouTube videos, audio files, documents, or presentations to generate summaries, make connections between topics, and cite sources, functioning as a personalized AI for the user.

Differences with the Chromebook Plus

For the Plus models, Google has integrated more advanced AI features, such as the text-capture search option, which allows you to extract content from handwritten notes, photos, images, or scanned documents—ideal for digitizing information such as dates and events.

You can also simplify technical text in PDF files or web pages, highlighting individual paragraphs, with explanations or follow-up questions to help you better understand the topics.

Another available feature will be the ability to generate custom images using text, without the need for external tools. These images can be inserted directly into content and run in any open app or tab.

Details and prices of the new ASUS Chromebooks

In the case of ASUS, Gemini works directly from the home screen, allowing you to interact with the assistant by simply tapping the icon in the taskbar, similar to how Copilot works in Windows 11.

These new devices will include a free trial of Google One’s AI Premium plan for 12 months for Chromebook Plus users, and for three months for standard Chromebook users.

ASUS claims that both devices feature high-quality displays, military-grade durability, cameras optimized for video calls, and performance built for multitasking.
