A major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in southern Sinaloa has been announced by Mexico’s government. The new bridge, which will connect federal highway Mexico 15 to Pérez Escobosa Avenue in Mazatlán, is part of the ambitious 2025 Highway Plan.
According to officials, construction on the project will begin on August 4 and will be carried out as part of a comprehensive investment plan worth over 35 billion pesos. The bridge is expected to enhance connectivity between key areas of Mazatlán and facilitate traffic flow in the region.
The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, confirmed that the project was negotiated by the Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, and approved after a recent meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. The new bridge is seen as a critical component in improving the region’s road infrastructure.
In related news, work on other projects in Sinaloa is also underway. The San Ignacio–Tayoltita section has just begun 15 days ago, and while some delays have been reported, officials say that the project is expected to be completed by the end of July 2025.
The investment plan for road infrastructure over the next six years is estimated to total around 150 billion pesos, with a focus on developing 263 kilometers of roads and bridges across the country.
