The interim governor of Sinaloa, Graciela Domínguez Nava, announced that she is working with a representative of the Office of the President of Mexico on the design of a comprehensive security and governance plan for the state.
She explained that the plan focuses on two areas: restoring peace and security for the people of Sinaloa and strengthening assistance aimed at recovering the economy.
“We have a close relationship with a representative and a team that the Office of the President of Mexico sent to Sinaloa. We are already working at full speed, especially to focus on a comprehensive governance plan to strengthen the actions of our government,” the governor emphasized after an event held at the María del Rosario Espinoza High-Performance Sports Center.
She stressed that progress on the measures to be implemented is expected to be presented next week, with the goal of ensuring that people feel safe in any public space.
She said that a policy focused on assistance and economic recovery will be strengthened, while addressing social causes from the public security perspective, in coordination with the federal government.
The state governor said there will be full coordination on these two fronts to restore peace and, especially, to ensure that citizens feel safe. She added that the government will exchange views with different social sectors across the state.
Domínguez Nava explained that officials work every day with the security coordination meeting, and that during the first stage of designing the plan, dialogue with all organized sectors and the public will be prioritized.
She said they will conduct tours throughout the state’s 20 municipalities and meet with each member of her cabinet to develop proposals aimed at restoring public confidence in the government.
She assured that she will govern with an open-door and inclusive approach, listening to all voices regardless of their political affiliation. She said there will be meetings with federal deputies and senators from different political currents, including the current independent federal legislator.
Since taking office last Tuesday as governor to complete the term of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, who is currently on leave, Domínguez Nava has stated that her priority will be peace in Sinaloa and that she will work closely with President Claudia Sheinbaum.
“Today Sinaloa needs the full strength of the Mexican state, coordination, intelligence, social policy, attention to the root causes, and institutional capacity to fully restore peace,” she stated.
She recognized President Sheinbaum’s leadership and told her: “You can be certain of our full willingness to work together for Sinaloa.”
On Wednesday, in a message posted on social media, the governor reiterated her commitment to peace.
“Our priority is to restore peace and trust and, in that regard, we recognize the federal government’s strategy and will work in permanent coordination with President Claudia Sheinbaum. (…) From the state, we will undertake the necessary actions to achieve this objective.”
Inzunza Case
Senator Enrique Inzunza Cázarez should have prioritized the political movement because the position he holds is not a personal matter, interim Governor Graciela Domínguez Nava said following his decision to become an independent legislator.
Regarding the senator’s departure from the Morena parliamentary group, the governor said she respects the personal decision he made. She stated that they are part of a political movement and therefore believes he should have prioritized it.
