The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the Aguascalientes Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard, and U.S. law enforcement agencies, arrested Abel “N,” allegedly responsible for possessing, generating, and distributing child pornography.
The arrest occurred in the state of Aguascalientes, where the individual was hiding after being identified as the prime suspect in an international investigation linking him to more than 1,500 files containing explicit content involving minors.
How was the search for and arrest of Abel “N” carried out?
The arrest was made after several weeks of intelligence work, stemming from an alert issued by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and channeled through the U.S. National Security Attaché in Mexico.
This report raised alarm bells after detecting the dissemination of child abuse images and videos through digital platforms.
According to sources close to the investigation, a technical analysis of the digital files identified a total of 1,839 minors as victims within the seized content. The investigations pointed directly to Abel “N,” whose address was traced to the municipality of Benito Juárez, in the state of Quintana Roo.
Based on the evidence, the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Human Trafficking Crimes requested an arrest warrant, which was granted by a supervisory judge. A joint operation was subsequently implemented that included digital tracking, field surveillance, and interstate coordination, culminating in his location and capture in Aguascalientes.
Once arrested, Abel “N” was transferred to Quintana Roo, where he is now in custody and at the disposal of judicial authorities. An initial hearing will be held in the coming hours to determine his legal status.
The Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Abel “N” faces charges for human trafficking in the form of child pornography, one of the most serious crimes related to the exploitation of minors.
In addition, an investigation is underway to determine whether other individuals are involved in the creation or dissemination of the illegal material, as well as possible links to international child exploitation networks.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining cooperation with international agencies to combat these types of crimes. They also called on the public to report any suspicion of child abuse or exploitation, as timely reporting can be key to preventing further victims and bringing those responsible to justice.
This case once again highlights the need to strengthen digital protection mechanisms for minors, as well as to strengthen international cooperation to combat cybercrime.
