Michelle Wood, a 50-year-old woman originally from the United States, went viral on TikTok after documenting the step-by-step process of her facial cosmetic surgery in Guadalajara, Mexico.
With an investment of nearly 300,000 Mexican pesos, social media users claim she now looks unrecognizable because she “looks 26.”
According to Michelle Wood, the change has been so radical that even her own son was mistaken for her partner, and both she and her family are struggling to accept her transformation.
“I still don’t recognize myself,” Michelle confessed in one of her videos. “I’ve never seen myself like this. Even when I was 20, I didn’t see myself like this because I was always very, very obese,” she added.
What cosmetic procedure did Michelle Wood have?
Through a series of videos on her TikTok account, Michelle Wood shared that she decided to undergo a full facelift, forehead lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, lip lift, and a mini chin implant, with the goal of revamping her image.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Maribel Belmontes Castillo, whom she chose after seeing the results on other patients and reviewing reviews on social media and Facebook groups.
“She’s very, very conservative in her approach,” Michelle said.
The transformation was so striking that during a recent visit to the ophthalmologist with her 17-and-a-half-year-old son, the medical staff mistook her for someone else.
“They looked at him and said, ‘Oh, your dad.’ And I was like, OK, slow down a little… no, it’s not dad,” she recounted.
When they checked the date of birth, they reacted with surprise: “Wow… your mom. I was like, yes, I’m a mom.”
Although the results have been positive, the process hasn’t been easy. On day three post-op, Michelle described feeling like “a Braz doll,” completely swollen and unable to recognize herself in the mirror.
“Waiting for the swelling to go down. Right now, I don’t know who I am,” she said at the time.
Having lost more than 130 pounds twice, Michelle explained that the procedure was also a way to correct the effects of weight on her skin.
“I’ve worked really hard for what I wanted. I work full-time plus a part-time job. Whenever I can save, I do it,” she said. “I’m a single mother of twins. I’ve always been a single mother.”
How was your experience coming to Guadalajara, Mexico?
The experience in Guadalajara was, according to her, exceptional. Visibly happy, she expressed: “The care here is excellent. Seriously, you can’t deny the quality of care.”
“The doctor saw me every day for the last 10 days. Every day,” she emphasized.
The now-content creator mentioned that the doctor sends a nurse to spend the night with patients for the first 24 hours after surgery, care she described as “beautiful and spotless.”
When asked about the risks of having surgery in another country, Michelle was clear: “There are risks with any surgery. For me, going to Mexico was no different than going to any other metropolitan area where I would have had to travel.”
Now, as she recovers, she assured her followers that she continues to deal with the physical changes, as well as the constant shocks she receives.
“I’m still very swollen… but I’m thrilled with my results. I love my surgeon. I think she did a phenomenal job,” she said. “My insides didn’t match how I felt or looked on the outside. And now they will.”
Social Media Reacts to Michelle Wood’s Facial Transformation
Michelle Wood’s facial transformation has sparked thousands of reactions on social media, her videos continue to rack up millions of views, and internet users have been impressed with her results.
“I agree it’s scary, but you look amazing!”
“She looks 26.”
“When you watch her first video, before she had the surgery, and then come back to this one, you understand that it’s a spectacular job, and she looks incredibly beautiful. As time goes by, the results will get even better.”
“It’s strange how natural you look already. Usually, people look lifted after surgery, but you look like a new person.”
“I was born in Guadalajara, and my sister got a facelift over a year ago there too, and I’ll definitely be going to the mines in about five years.”
“Her being a doctor makes perfect sense; she knows how we want to look.”
“Oh my God, you look like Amanda Bynes!”
“I really can’t wrap my head around it.”
“I feel like, once she’s fully healed, with her hair done, eyelashes and eyebrows done in a more modern way, if she wants to, she’ll look even younger.”
