Mario Alberto Lover Martínez, a Oaxacan soldier originally from Ixtepec, died during an attack in Ukraine, his family confirmed, asking for help with his repatriation.
They indicated that they have been in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), but have not been able to finalize the process with the authorities in that European country, as the young man’s body has not been located.
Mario Alberto, a former federal police officer, died on June 9, reported Ernesto Zárate, his cousin-in-law, who notes that they have been in contact with the Mexican consul in Ukraine.
However, due to the war, they have not been able to locate his body so far, and he asserts that they have also had no contact with security officials in the European country.
Mario Alberto Lover Martínez was 37 years old and the father of two children, whose passion was being a soldier.
His cousin says he joined the military at age 17, registering in Chiapas, later joining the Federal Police, and finally, in January of this year, he completed all the necessary paperwork to join the International Army.
He noted that they don’t know if there was any kind of life insurance or employment contract.
Finally, he emphasized that the Mario Alberto family is waiting for a response from the authorities, and they will continue fighting for it soon.
