The robbery of a truck driver in Jilotepec, State of Mexico, on the Mexico-Querétaro highway was captured on video and revealed a new method of robbery against drivers.

The video shows how the criminals intercepted the moving trailer with two other vehicles, a pickup truck and a truck. They then overpowered the driver and stole the vehicle. The incident occurred on July 2, and the driver’s whereabouts have not been revealed since.

The video shows how a cargo van slows down in front of the trailer, forcing it to brake. Almost immediately afterward, another truck completely blocked its path.

Subsequently, two armed men opened the driver’s door and forced him into the back seat while beating them. They also threatened him and stole the vehicle he was driving.

The video shows that criminals have adopted a new method to rob truck drivers of their trucks, using not only small vehicles but also other trucks and large vehicles.

Transportation leaders have denounced the robberies and extortion they experience on the highways. The Mexico-Querétaro highway is one of the most used by transporters; and the Mexican Alliance of Transport Organizations (Amotac) emphasized that it is also one of the most dangerous.

These robbery methods include the use of fake checkpoints, hitting vehicles to force them to stop, and placing dangerous objects called “tire-puncture devices” on the roads to detain drivers.
