The heavy rains recorded in the municipality of Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, have caused landslides and collapses on the roads.
In response to this situation, Municipal Police, Civil Protection, and Highway Department personnel are assisting to remove some of the rocks that have affected the roads, in addition to assisting with signage and flagging to prevent accidents.
Through Operation Dragon, the first case was responded to on the Santiago Papasquiaro to Durango highway at kilometer 104, where part of a hill collapsed and practically invaded the asphalt with rocky material.
The response was immediate since this landslide occurred overnight, and flagging was carried out to prevent accidents.
Civil Protection personnel and other agencies removed all the material with heavy machinery to clear the entire road so it could reopen.
Another landslide occurred on the highway from Santiago Papasquiaro to Los Altares, where a rock weighing more than a ton and a half fell off, necessitating the use of heavy machinery to remove the enormous boulder.
Support was also provided to residents living in a ravine near the Santiago Papasquiaro Institute of Technology, whose homes were damaged by the floodwaters.
