Despite immigration policies in the United States, only five people have been assisted in the state of Durango, acknowledged Héctor Vela Valenzuela, Secretary General of Government. The interviewee commented that there is a special commission to assist compatriots who have been repatriated.
He indicated that the necessary level of care is available for them to rebuild their lives, from jobs to ensuring their children can attend school.
“We already have a commission, which hasn’t made much media noise about this issue, with the participation of several state government departments, and they are coordinated by the Migrant Assistance Directorate, which reports to the General Secretariat of Government. We already have a protocol for all those who want to extend a warm welcome to their fellow Durango migrants, where a job bank already exists. Medical assistance is provided through the State Health System.”
Another point mentioned by the interviewee was that the Durango State Education Secretariat should accept children at any time during the school year.
This is a significant number of repatriates.
Héctor Herrera, president of the Political Coordination Board in the Durango Congress, announced that a significant number of people are deported from the United States and return to mountain municipalities.
The interviewee commented that in these municipalities, people who were detected illegally in the United States are returning.
“There are already some cases in the municipality of Tepehuanes; there have already been some deportees. Others arrive in the communities and don’t report to the authorities. But while we have been communicating with the residents, some deportees have already arrived, and their families remain there. And sometimes, they risk trying to cross again because they have built a life there over many years.”
