The Francisco Villa National Fair is preparing to host the fifth edition of the National Equestrian Jumping Tournament, an event that promises to bring together the best riders from several northern states. The competition will take place from July 25th to 27th in the livestock area, with activities scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

This year, competitors from Sinaloa, Coahuila, Chihuahua, Sonora, and Durango are expected to participate. Although the official opening will take place on Saturday the 26th, teams will begin arriving on Friday, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the arena and practice before the competition.

Rogelio Soto, president of the Durango Livestock Union, highlighted the quality of the local riders: “Over the last two years, Durango riders have been among the highest-ranked during their participation in high-level competitions. Give yourself the opportunity to attend: show jumping is a great sport, family-friendly, and highly disciplined.”

This event not only represents a celebration of equestrian sport but also a significant boost to the local economy. At least 60 families are expected to arrive, each accompanied by their technical team and horses, which will contribute to the city’s tourism recovery. According to Rosario Villanueva, Public Relations Coordinator for Fairs and Shows, “hotels already have a large number of reservations for the fair season, which indicates that the Durango Fair stands out among the public from other states.”

The opening ceremony will be hosted by the Third Military Region Symphony Orchestra from Mazatlán, promising a memorable start to this event. Karla Smith, president of the Durango State Equestrian Promotion Agency (FED), invited the public to support the competitors: “The riders prepare 365 days a year to give their all in this competition.”

The National Equestrian Jumping Tournament is completely free and designed to be accessible to the whole family, offering guidance to those who want to venture into this exciting discipline.
