From January to May, 2,280 new hotel rooms opened in Mexico, of which 1,715 were in Cancun, or 75%, while 16% (355) were opened in the Riviera Maya. These two destinations account for 91%. The report also indicates that 6% (140) were opened in the Riviera Nayarit, according to data from the “Hotel Investor Intentions 2025” survey by the consulting firm CBRE.
According to the study, 3,900 new rooms are expected to come online in Mexico during the second half of 2025, and resorts continue to be the most attractive investment trend.
Likewise, the projection for new rooms between 2025 and 2027 will be for destinations such as Cancun, Riviera Maya, and Los Cabos, with more than 5,000 rooms under construction.
25,000 new rooms are planned for Isla Mujeres, of which 11,000 have already been opened. This leaves 14,000 more rooms yet to be developed in this area.
As of June of this year, Quintana Roo already has a total of 135,961 rooms, distributed across 1,478 hotels throughout the state, according to Sedetur (Tour).
