Dams at 88 percent capacity in Querétaro

The State Coordinator of Civil Protection, Javier Amaya Torres, reported that the state’s dams are currently at an average of 88 percent of their storage capacity in the state of Querétaro. This is due to the rainy season. He noted that there are 26 dams across the state under the management of the National Water Commission (Conagua).

Javier Amaya added that this week, 14 dams have been recorded as completely full in the state. These dams are being released under controlled conditions by Conagua and do not pose any risk to the surrounding communities. He indicated that these dams are El Carmen, Pirules, El Zorrillo, Santa Catarina, El Zapote, Jesús María, Derivadora San José, El Cajón, La Soledad, El Coto, Jalpan, Colón, La Venta, and Puerta de Alegrías.
The head of the State Coordinator of Civil Protection added that the forecast for this week is low for rainfall in the state.
