A pair of Chicontepec municipal police officers, detained by armed individuals in the community of Tlacolula, were found alive, the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office reported.
The officers, identified as Luis Alfredo Hernández and Filemón Hernández Hernández, 42 and 43 years old, respectively, were aboard a patrol car with economic number 01 to deliver a coffin requested by a citizen to the DIF (District of Inquiry) of the Veracruz municipality of Tlacolula, in the community of El Tecomate.
Suddenly, a convoy of two trucks intercepted them, violently got out of the car, subdued them with weapons, and forcibly took them away along with the patrol car. This incident occurred on a country road in the town of San Gerónimo, around 7:30 a.m.
The two municipal police officers had been reported detained.
After being located, they were immediately taken to the Humberto Silva Castillo General Hospital for prompt medical attention.
They were found in Tantoyuca
This afternoon, the Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office announced that as a result of a joint operation with federal and state forces, the police officers were found alive in the municipality of Tantoyuca.
Meanwhile, Mayor Armando Fernández de la Cruz issued a statement confirming the discovery of the two officers assigned to the Municipal Public Security Secretariat.
He also thanked the three levels of government and the state governor, Rocío Nahle, for their support in the search and prompt location of the two police officers.
“The investigative trilogy continues with the respective case file to find the alleged perpetrators. It should be noted that the municipal police officers are in good health and are being treated in a hospital.”
