With the help of the J. García López funeral home, Bye Bye Friend consolidated its position as the leading pet funeral service company in Mexico in 2025, reporting a 22 percent increase in sales in the first six months of 2025 compared to 2024, with an average of 16 services per day, revealed Patricio Borrego, the Mexican firm’s commercial director, in an interview with El Financiero.
Not only that, on July 24th, it opened its new headquarters in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City, along with the first Pet Funeral Sanctuary in Mexico.
It plans to open two more locations between 2025 and 2026, where owners of dogs, cats, parrots, reptiles, and even rodents can say their final goodbyes and pay tribute to their animal friends.
What services do pet funeral homes offer?
The experience ranges from the creation of specialized thanatological rituals and comprehensive services to accompany families through the grieving process, to specialized pet transportation and farewell rooms, a cafe, and a garden.
Bye Bye Friend was created in 2021, however, the road has not been easy.
“Obviously, over time, we broke down communication barriers, and starting in 2022, we began to experience exponential growth because all socially responsible companies also began to speak about animal welfare, and guardians began to become more interested in reaching out to them with our services and products,” Borrego explained.
The funeral services market is currently experiencing a boom due to pet owners’ growing awareness of affordable funeral care services, rising spending in the pet industry, and the growing popularity of pet cremation facilities, according to the consulting firm Grand View Research (GVR).
The firm added that pet humanization continues to grow as a result of lifestyle changes, such as the rise of nuclear families, single-person households, an aging population, and younger generations’ growing understanding of pet ownership and care. According to GVR, the global pet funeral services market is estimated to reach $3.75 billion by 2030.
